Chuck D. Kapalka

Charles “Chuck” D. Kapalka, age 81 of Greensburg, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025. Chuck was born on February 11, 1944, to the late Paul and Ida Dillon Kapalka. 

He worked as a machinist over a 40+ year career and was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. He developed in early appreciation for the past in retirement studying family genealogy and volunteering at Hannah’s Town Historical Society. 

He was an outdoorsman whose favorite annual trip was fishing in Canada. He always put his family first. He was a kind and gracious man who will be sorely missed. 

Chuck is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathy; his brother Keith Kapalka; his children, Kimberly Kapalka (Roger Covert), Timothy Kapalka (Robin), Janet Guy (Andrew), Gregory Silvis (Alice) as well as his grandchildren: Corinne Kapalka, Samantha Campbell, William Kapalka, Gabriel Kapalka, Gwyn Kapalka, Andrew Guy, and Abby Silvis. 

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Friday, July 25, 2025 at Hoffer Wilt Funeral Home and Saturday, July 26, 2025, 10:00 am to 11:00am. The funeral service will be held at Hoffer Wilt Funeral home (Norvelt, PA), officiated by Pastor Brian Swan, on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park at 150 East Side Dr., Greensburg PA. In memory of Chuck, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York NY 10016.
