Chuck Kauffman

Charles "Chuck" Kauffman, born March 22, 1957, in Mount Pleasant, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, at the age of 68, surrounded by his loving family at IHS Westmoreland Hospital.

Chuck was a dedicated and hardworking individual who retired from the parts department of Bobcat of Pittsburgh. Throughout his life, he found joy in the great outdoors, particularly enjoying fishing, camping, and gardening. His love for nature was evident in his hobbies, which provided him with much happiness and fulfillment.

A man of faith, Chuck was a longtime member of St. Florian Church and actively participated in the Norvelt and United Clubs. His presence in these communities was cherished, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Charles and Magdalene Kauffman, Chuck leaves behind a devoted family. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diane (Sofranko); his daughter Elizabeth (Galen) McKinney; his son Michael (Jess) Kauffman; and his cherished grandchildren, Ellen, Malia, Clara, and Colton. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy (Jim) Detar, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family members who will remember him fondly.

Family and friends are welcome to gather from 12 p.m. until the time of Chuck's funeral service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Hoffer Wilt Funeral Home, located at 2245 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Norvelt. The service will be officiated by Fr. John Sedlak. Following the funeral service, burial will take place at St. Florian Cemetery.

Chuck's warmth, kindness, and love for the simple pleasures in life will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life.
