John E. Marinchak, 89, of United passed away February 2, 2016. Born June 29, 1926, he was the son of John and Anna Repko Marinchak. He was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church and an active member of the former St. Stanislaus Church. John was a veteran of the Army 1st Division having served in WWII and the Korean War. Prior to his retirement he worked as an electrical technician for Westinghouse R&D Center of Churchill. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife Rosemarie Kochis Marinchak, son Richard Marinchak and sisters Bernice Murphy and Margaret Zeglin. He is survived by his devoted children: daughter Diane Hanik of Waynesboro; sons Scott Marinchak of united and Mick (Rayetta) Marinchak of Acme; and daughter-in-law Judy Marinchak. He will be remembered as a loving grandfather by his grandchildren Alex, Blaize, Cyndney, and Jaz. Mr. Marinchak’s family wishes to thank Westmoreland Hospital and their hospice for exceptional care and compassion.
Family and friends will be received 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm on Friday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Rd, Norvelt. A prayer vigil will be held in the evening. His funeral service will begin at 9 am with Armbrust Veterans Association and transfer prayers at 9:15 in the funeral home followed by his funeral Mass at St. Florian Catholic Church, United, Rev. John A. Sedlak celebrant. Interment to follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery with military rites accorded.
