Sarah G. Gross

Sarah G. Gross, 98 of Carpentertown passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 3, surrounded by her loving family at Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. She was born October 10, 1917 to the late Harry and Ada Reese Hixon. In addition to her parents Sarah was preceded in death by her husband Lewis, son Robert and Siblings Lloyd Hixon, Helen Bowman, Florence Bair, and infant sister Myrtle. She was the loving mother to Gladys Gross, Harry (Elizabeth) Gross, Henry (Sue) Gross, Louise (Emerson) Beal, Phyllis Povlik, Margaret (James) Hood, Norman (Linda) Gross, and Judy (Bill) Vokes. She is also survived by her sister Dollie Kurth, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and her special friend Dorothy Bair. Sarah was a lifelong member of Hilltop Baptist Church. Her interests were embroidering, search words, puzzles, and gardening both vegetables and flowers and interesting enough, she liked to chop wood and shovel snow. Family and Friends will be received Thursday, November 5 from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, PA 15674. Funeral service will be Friday, November 6 at 11 am in the funeral home with interment to follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Tarrs, PA.
