Theresa A. Adams, 88, of Armbrust, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026. Born February 13, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Catherine and Joseph Urbanowski. Theresa graduated from Hurst High School, where she played clarinet in the band and met the love of her life, star quarterback John G. "Jack" Adams, who preceded her in death.
During their early years together, Theresa and Jack moved throughout the Midwest, building their family one state at a time before returning to Armbrust, where their story began. As the family matriarch, Theresa ran a tight ship and filled her home with care, tradition, and an abundance of food. She was happiest working in her garden, canning, and tending to her many flowers. Her kitchen could feed a small army, and holidays brought the entire family together around the table, sharing stories well into the night.
Among Theresa's greatest joys were Sundays at Fiedor's Grove, where she and Jack would polka dance the night away.
She will be remembered for her devotion to family, her welcoming table, and the traditions that brought generations together.
Theresa is survived by her children: Mike Adams and wife Patti of Morgantown, West Virginia, their daughters and spouses, Katie and Mark Fletcher and Rachel and Michael Holt, and great-grandchildren Caleb and Eleanor; Dave Adams and wife Cheryl of Armbrust; Steve Adams and wife Jennifer of Huntsville, Alabama, and their sons, Nick and Tim; Paul Adams and spouse Cassie of Cleveland, Tennessee, and their children, Ally and Joe; and Angela Martorella and spouse Chris of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and their children, Elizabeth, Alexandra, and Vince.
In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, John G. "Jack" Adams, and her in-laws, John Adam and Anna Boytim-Adam.
As we mourn Theresa's passing, we take comfort in the thought that somewhere in heaven there is a polka dance right now, and her and Jack are reunited, having their first dance together in a long time.
