Thomas Pendrick, 97, of Trauger, passed away peacefully at St. Anne Home on May 7, 2026 surrounded by his family. Born on September 18, 1928, he was the last surviving child of the late Joseph and Anna Pendrick.
Thomas was a graduate of Hurst High School, class of '46. Following his graduation, he served honorably in the United States Army. After his military service, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Vincent College in 1956.
Prior to retirement, he was a Contract Administrator for Westinghouse and Hamill Manufacturing before retiring from Tooling Specialists Inc. in Latrobe.
A man of many interests, Thomas found joy in woodworking, crafting numerous projects and pieces of furniture. He also had a passion for gardening, which he tended with care, and loved cutting the grass. After retirement he grew to enjoy golfing. Together with his beloved wife, Ellona, they enjoyed traveling, attending polka dances, and watching football, especially his favorite team the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Above all, Thomas cherished spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events.
Thomas was a longtime member of St. Florian Church, where he was previously involved with the finance committee and various fundraising events.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ellona Pendrick and his twelve siblings.
He is survived by his seven loving children whom they raised in Mammoth: Susan (John R.) Bainbridge, Paula (Jason) Voyce, Nancy (Ed) Stas, Thomas (Chris) Pendrick, Teresa (Jerry) Banks, Jennifer (Tom) Jaworske, and Laurie (Dave) Blend. He was a cherished grandfather to sixteen grandchildren: Caitlin, Tony, Weston, Luke, Maura, Leah, Tommy, Jocelyn, Abby, Stephen, Nick, Jessica, Joshua, Nathaniel, Tori, and Alaina. Additionally, he was a proud great-grandfather to Asher, Brielle, Isabella, Emilia, Sienna, Tommy, Joey, Russell, Gwen, Everett, Eli, and Nora.
Family and friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. on Mon., May 11, at the Hoffer Wilt Funeral Home in Norvelt, where Vigil prayers will be offered at 8 p.m. Transfer prayers will be said in the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Florian Church. Burial with military honors by the Armbrust Veterans Organization will follow in St. Florian Cemetery.
